Canyon LakeReads 2020

Canyon Lake Reads is a community event sponsored by the Friends of the Library featuring activities from February 27th throughout the month of March themed around a certain literary work. This year for Canyon Lake Reads, our events are designed around the title News of the World, by Paulette Jiles. See summary below.

In the aftermath of the Civil War, an aging itinerant news reader agrees to transport a young captive of the Kiowa back to her people in this exquisitely rendered, morally complex, multilayered novel of historical fiction from the author of Enemy Women that explores the boundaries of family, responsibility, honor, and trust.

Copies of News of the World are available for purchase in the Friends of the Library bookstore, for download on the Libby app using your library card, or for checkout in the library.
