Why we need Friends
TPML receives most of its funding from a 0.5% local sales tax within the Library District and cannot have fundraising activities. To enable the Library to offer items, programs, and services which might not otherwise be covered by operating cost funds, the Friends of Tye Preston Memorial Library (a 501(c)3 organization) raises funds and accepts donations on the Library’s behalf. The revenue raised by Friends membership dues, fundraising activities, and bookstore sales are used by TPML to develop and maintain programs enriching the educational and cultural needs of our community.
Donations received by the Friends are more than a one-time tax-deductible gift.

The Friends of the Tye Preston Memorial Library is a volunteer group dedicated to supporting the Library through fundraising and volunteer services. Our goals are to expand the services available to its users and to strengthen TPML’s connection to our community.

Your Membership Makes a Difference!
In 2023-2024, the Library TPML Friends raised over $39,000 and the Library used the funds for the LAKEmobile, Children’s Summer Programs, completing the Makerspace, books for 3 Little Free Libraries, the Apiary, and the electric vehicle charger.
Last year the Friends’ worked with the Library to provide the community with Canyon Lake Reads. “Bold Crossings” by Lance Osborne was a huge success with over 600 attendees at 17 events that included Lunch and Learns, family nights, and field trips.
